The Crosspool Tavern pub is located at 468 Manchester Road in Crosspool.
The Crosspool Tavern pub and restaurant on Manchester Road was fined £5,000 in August after Sheffield City Council health protection officers took legal action over its dirty kitchens. The pub's owner, Mitchells and Butler Retail Ltd, pleaded guilty at Sheffield Magistrates' Court to the charges. The pub's manager and kitchen staff have been now all been replaced.

Despite being a personal trainer I am partial to pizza and trust me when I say I can eat pizza for England. Now I remembered that the Crosspool Tavern does half price pizzas on Tuesday so I thought I'd try it, especially given that I have previously had their wonderful burgers previously.
Now let me tell you what I love about the Crosspool Tavern. There is loads of parking available. The staff are very friendly. There is a very friendly atmosphere, always with a great crowd in.
It's obvious that the base was not some supermarket base. The chef has clearly made it freshly on the day. That tomato topping has not come from a packet. The chef has clearly got some fresh tomatoes and made the topping on the spot. Those onions were as crisp as the day is long. The mushrooms had that just cut and cooked taste. One thing is obvious - they've got those ingredients from the greengrocers across the road. Although I paid for this pizza it was just like your mother's home cooking. One thing I've notice when I go in for lunch is the large number of families who go in which is always good to see. What's not to like?
So the usual questions.
Was it worth the money? Good value at 10 times the price.
Would I go there again? In a heartbeat.
Would I recommend them to the public? Of course.
What would I say to the public? If you live in the catchment area of the Crosspool Tavern and you fancy a takeaway pizza then I would suggest you make your way down there. Forget takeaway pizza. Order the pizza and eat it there. You'll get a first class pizza at less than half the price of a takeaway. You can eat it on the spot. There is no washing up to do. You'll be in a very friendly relaxed environment. When the football is on TV get yourself down there and enjoy a world class pizza.
The other thing I'd strongly recommend you do is try the all you can eat breakfast on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 11am.

Brilliant atmosphere.
Visited today for the friendship lunch. From start to finish the staff where brilliant. Louise and Jenny, the waiting staff, couldn't do enough for us.
The carvery was lovely and the apple pie and custard was the cherry on the cake, so to speak.
They had a brilliant singer on.
I would recommend the Crosspool Tavern to anyone and the friendship lunch is definitely worth a visit. Lovely atmosphere to spend with friends.

Went for a meal on bank holiday Monday, 26th August. Although staff were friendly and inviting enough, I'm afraid the praise ends there!
We were so disappointed, as the food was what can only can be described as disgusting!
Some of our party had the carvery and complained that the meat was so dry it was inedible, the veg. was cold, the stuffing could be used as a door stop it was that hard.
Others in the party had the mince & onion pie, which must have been left under the hotplate that long there was a thick skin around the pie of dried-on, congealed gravy.
I had a baguette of turkey and stuffing and it was like trying to swallow sandpaper! Again, the turkey was so dry, the stuffing, as I have said above, in a dry baguette, not even a bit of butter on to put any moisture into it at all.
We all left our meals and left the premises and all agreed to never return again. Diabolical.

Came here with my family for a meal on a Saturday afternoon. No catering whatsoever for small children. Then we were moved twice during our meal. Unprofessional staff and a cramped, unpleasant environment. Wouldn't even recommend to anyone.

I went to the Crosspool Tavern on the 1st December. The food was very nice but it could have been hotter.

Three friends and myself had a very disappointing meal at the carvery in the Crosspool Tavern this past Monday evening.
We arrived at 7PM and were told there was no turkey or gammon left, which only left beef. Even though that wasn't our first choice, we all took the beef since there was no alternative. The beef was so tough that we were all unable to eat it. This is the second time this has happened to us at this restaurant, and we will definitely not be going back again for our twice-yearly get-togethers.
We would rather pay more for our meals, and be able to enjoy them.
