After visiting this pub, which I really like, our company was greeted with a stinking smell from people smoking some implements. For Heaven's sake, have we gone back in time, as this is June 2018 and the landlord/manager is allowing this. And there were a couple of kids in to top it all.
Get with it and stop this crazy and dirty habit and think about the majority of clientele.

I paid a £100 deposit in February 2010 for a surprise 18th birthday in the middle of October. Due to unforeseen circumstances we had to cancel. I rang the pub up on 12th April 2010 to tell them and was told that I would only get £50 back, and I was lucky to get that.
I was never told when I put the deposit down that it would be non-refundable. Even on the receipt it doesn't say that it is not-refundable. I am disgusted, as the event is 6 months away. I could understand if the event had been 6 weeks away.
Just make sure you look round at other pubs if you need a function room, or if you book here make sure you don't have to cancel for any reason.
Dave
Expensive beer, rude staff. Would never go in again.
