News for Water Tower:

  • The proprietors of a well-loved community establishment in Sheffield, The Water Tower pub on Hemsworth Road in Norton, have recently addressed concerns about its future. The pub announced a temporary closure on 3rd January, with plans to reopen in the near future. However, locals expressed unease upon noticing the boarding up of windows and doors.

Star Pubs & Bars, the owner of The Water Tower, has responded to community apprehensions by issuing a statement to The Star newspaper. According to the statement, "The Water Tower has temporarily closed, and we plan to reopen it around the middle of January under interim management while we seek a new operator to lead it forward."

To provide more information and engage potential stakeholders, an open day is scheduled at the pub on 6th February.

Highlighting the pub's advantageous location near Graves Park, St. James Retail Park, and numerous residential areas, the statement reassures the community that the pub is available for management under Star Pubs & Bars' low entry cost, high support managed operator agreement.

The pub is named after the nearby Oaks Water Tower, a 109ft landmark erected in 1961 to supply water to local homes.
