My wife and I only visit when visiting family in the area but always get a good welcome. Thursday pie night is a highlight.

Called in today by chance and had the best soup and main course. Soup was lettuce, pea and mint (quality), and gammon steak cooked to perfection with leek and cider sauce.

A very welcoming pub, staff were brilliant with us and our dog. Will definitely be calling again on our walks out.

Went for lunch with my husband and two friends today. We had the sharing platter for starters, which was really nice.

My main course was gammon steak with egg, chips, and peas. No mention of egg or pineapple, which is usually on lots of other menus. I cannot eat eggs so the steak was served to the table with the chips, no peas.

By now the waitress was serving another table (forgot all about my peas) so I had to stop her and ask her for them.

The gammon steak was very small and rather fatty. It would have been more palatable with a slice of pineapple.

    We won't be going again!
